Athens is marking Easter with a full city program that moves from neighborhood workshops and museum camps to choral concerts, family activities, library events, and acts of public solidarity.

As Mayor Haris Doukas noted, the aim is to make this year’s celebration one of creativity, music, and Easter celebration across every part of the city, with free cultural programming for children and adults alongside support for families in need and the city’s Easter meal for poor and homeless residents.

For Kids

Easter Candle Workshop
On April 6, the city’s infant and preschool library is holding a storytelling session followed by an Easter candle-making workshop for children ages four to six.

Maria Callas Museum Camp
From April 6 to 8, the Maria Callas Museum is running the three-day Easter Camp MCM Kids for children ages five to 10, with opera-themed games, theater activities, and visual-art workshops.

Gas Museum Easter Camp
From April 6 to 8, the Industrial Gas Museum at Technopolis in Gazi is presenting a three-day Easter camp for children ages five to nine, with workshops, outdoor activities, and exploration games inspired by Easter traditions from around the world.

Easter Traditions at the Library
On April 7, the city’s children’s and young adult library in Ambelokipi is offering a reading-and-activities session on Easter traditions for children ages eight to 11.

Warhol Easter Eggs
On April 8, the city’s infant and preschool library (Lampsa & Trifylias, Ambelokipi) is presenting Easter with Andy Warhol, where young children discover Pop Art and paint their own Easter eggs.


Concerts

Pergolesi in Plaka
On April 6, the Angeliki Hatzimichali House in Plaka presents a free concert pairing excerpts from Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with Baroque works by Domenico Zipoli and José de Orejón y Aparicio.

Bread from Ashes
On April 7, the Ergon Ensemble appears at the Olympia Municipal Music Theatre Maria Callas (Akadimias 59) with Bread from Ashes, featuring Savina Yannatou and Maria Kostraki.


Community

Support for Families
Alongside the cultural calendar, the municipality is distributing gifts and essential goods to supported families through the Citizens’ Mutual Aid Hub and Estia ton Athinon.

Easter Meal of Love
On April 12, the Easter solidarity program culminates with the Easter Meal of Love at the Rouf Indoor Basketball Court (Echelidon & Pireos, Rouf), where lunch will be offered to poor and homeless residents.
