Summer is a whole different way of viewing things, a mental state, an attitude towards life that should be experienced whenever and however one wishes.

Native Beach Villa: A beach house in Livadia, Hania illustrates and further enhances the fine dialogue between nature and architecture. Here the natural landscape graciously embraces the architectural structure of Paly Architects, providing elements for the composition of both the interior and exterior spaces.

“A clear rectangular shape is the basic volume of this beach house. Three tamarisk trees constitute the plot’s elevated boundary with the sea. The outer area is defined by the rocks and the sea on one side and the rocky mountain on the other” notes the architectural team.

Surrounded by rocks of the area, the uniquely-shaped pool looks like a continuation of the sea –the residence’s permanent “companion”. All the materials used come from the surrounding natural environment: chestnut wood, stones in earth tones on the exterior walls and grey shades inside, metal painted in rust colour, stone slabs on the floor, wooden frames.

The house has three shade and wind protection zones: the largest one is located in the extension of the house; the second one to the west serves the master bedroom, while a third independent one is located on the rocks southwest of the house.

The plot is surrounded by local natural stone that contributes to the integration of the villa into the natural environment. The artificial lighting of the house creates a unique atmosphere characterized by relaxing vibrations creating euphoric conditions.

The villa features an open plan kitchen, dining and living area and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and wardrobes. All areas have views of the sea and the pool. The kitchen counter-table extends to the outside of the villa and can easily be unified by simply lifting a retractable window.

“The exterior floor is made of traditional polished mortar and axed local stone. The outdoor stony kitchen-oven constitutes the boundary of the outdoor living area, separating it from the main entrance, and completes the synthesis. A clear rectangular-shaped deck defines the outdoor living room and ends in a platform over the sea” adds the architectural team.

Small decorative details turn the house into a relaxation haven. The off-white sofa, small, wooden coffee tables and dark grey decorative objects make up the comfortable setting of the living room.

Wood is the dominant element in the bedroom, while dark (grey and black) decorative elements create a balanced contrast with the white bedding.

Outdoor furniture blends subtly with the natural environment and moments of relaxation celebrate “slow living”, a trend that favours enjoying the moment with all your senses and experiencing life at a refreshingly slow pace.
