These are the “17th International Festival of Digital Arts of Greece” in Athens, the “6th International Film Festival – Bridges” in Nafplio and the international symposium-festival “Marble Peak” in Drama. These events are under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO).

More specifically, the “17th International Festival of Digital Arts of Greece”, called “Tactus”, will be held from 13 to 17 October in the historic centre of Athens, at the Museum of Modern Greek Culture in Plaka. The award-winning festival, founded in 2005, is an annual celebration of digital culture and a meeting point for a global community of artists and audiences. Hosting artists from Greece and abroad, the festival’s main aim is to encourage, activate and promote all aspects of digital creation. This year’s edition will present works by Greek and foreign artists including Video Art, Animation, Digital Image, Web Art, Installations, Virtual Reality, Games, Augmented Reality, Performances, while the programme also features workshops, talks, events dedicated to children, etc.

An innovative festival that highlights the multiple ways in which art interacts with technology, emphasizes their impact on the contemporary big-city day-to-day life and on humans, while at the same time promoting Athens as an important venue for innovative international events in the field of digital arts.

The “6th Nafplio International Film Festival – Bridges” takes place from 24 to 30 October. This year’s programme includes national and world premieres of fiction, animation and documentary films, as well as award-winning Greek and international short and feature films, while an international jury will award the best entries in each category with the “Golden Pegasus”. Moreover, there will be a workshop on the Dadaism movement in cinema, as well as tributes to well-known Greek artists and the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. The festival contributes significantly to the promotion of Nafplio and the prefecture of Argolida in general, further enhances the tourist profile of the region as a destination for visitors with special interests in thematic tourism, while highlighting Greece as a country offering a variety of travel experiences and as a meeting point for artists from all over the world.

In addition, as of October 3, the international marble sculpture symposium-festival “Marble Peak” is being held in Kato Nevrokopi, in Drama –a region that produces marble of excellent quality with a worldwide reputation.

In the framework of the symposium, which will end on 29 October, 6 invited sculptors from Greece, Serbia, Belarus, Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria will create their works with local marble, which will then be placed at different central points of the municipality. There will also be educational programmes for schools in the wider region so that students are introduced to art, educational talks and trips to higher institutions, as well as many additional cultural and artistic activities. The aim of the festival is both the promotion of marble and the art of marble sculpture as a central cultural element of the region and the promotion of the latter in Greece and abroad as a diverse tourist destination.
