Ships will remain docked at the port of Piraeus on Wednesday due to a strike announced by the Panhellenic Seamen’s Federation for all categories of ships that would have been departing from the port. The strike was announced during a meeting of the Federation in response to the train tragedy in Tempi, central Greece.

The 24 hour mobilization will begin at 00:01 on Wednesday and will last until 24:00 the same day. In an announcement, the Federation states that the strike is part of the labor union’s actions regarding the national tragedy at Tempi and demands the full clarification of all aspects of the train collision and the implementation of all necessary measures for safe land and sea transportation and communication.

Meanwhile, buses and trolleys will also be halted due to a strike organized by the Federation of OASA Technicians and Employees on Wednesday. Finally, the trains will remain immobilized until Wednesday according to the decision of the meeting of the railway employees’ unions on Sunday.
