Σύμφωνα με τα ιστορικά στοιχεία, η πρώτη σκηνή glamping στήθηκε τον 16ο αιώνα στα Χάιλαντς της Σκωτίας για να φιλοξενήσει τον βασιλιά James τον 5ο μαζί με τη μητέρα του που επισκέπτονταν την περιοχή. Τη δεκαετία του 1920 και έπειτα, πολυτελείς σκηνές στήνονταν και στα αφρικανικά σαφάρι που πραγματοποιούσαν αμερικανοί και ευρωπαίοι πλούσιοι.

Ο όρος glamping που προκύπτει από τις αγγλικές λέξεις glamorous και camping άρχισε να χρησιμοποιείται στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του 2000 όταν όλο και περισσότεροι αναζητούσαν διακοπές στη φύση αλλά χωρίς να στερηθούν την πολυτέλεια και ορισμένες ανέσεις. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, έχουν αυξηθεί και στην Ελλάδα οι επιλογές για πολυτελή και άνετη διαμονή σε σκηνές και τροχόσπιτα. Αυτές είναι οι καλύτερες προτάσεις για glamping.

Σε απόσταση 300 μέτρων από τη θάλασσα, ανάμεσα σε ελαιόδεντρα είναι τοποθετημένες οι στρογγυλές τέντες με τον διάφανο ουρανό. Καθεμία έχει τον δικό της κήπο και δεν υπάρχουν κοινόχρηστοι χώροι με τις υπόλοιπες. Εξοπλισμένες με κλιματισμό, διαθέτουν ξεχωριστό μπάνιο σε μια δεύτερη, μικρότερη στρογγυλή τέντα και κάποιες από αυτές υπαίθριο τζακούζι.
