Η αρχιτεκτονική
Η Μπολόνια είναι γνωστή για την καλοδιατηρημένη μεσαιωνική αρχιτεκτονική της, που της χάρισε το παρατσούκλι “La Rossa” (Η Κόκκινη) λόγω των κόκκινων στεγών των κτιρίων της. Η γαστρονομία

Το πανεπιστήμιο
Η Μπολόνια φιλοξενεί το Πανεπιστήμιο της Μπολόνια, το οποίο είναι το παλαιότερο πανεπιστήμιο στον δυτικό κόσμο, το οποίο ιδρύθηκε το 1088. Η παρουσία του πανεπιστημίου προσδίδει στην πόλη μια ζωντανή και νεανική ατμόσφαιρα, με ακμάζοντα φοιτητικό πληθυσμό, πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις και ενδιαφέρουσα νυχτερινή ζωή.

Στο MAMbo (Via Don Minzoni 14, Τρίτη και Τετάρτη 14:00-19:00, Πέμπτη 14:00-20:00, Παρασκευή έως Κυριακή 10:00-19:00, είσοδος 6 ευρώ) το μουσείο μοντέρνας τέχνης της πόλης θα δείτε έργα από σύγχρονους καλλιτέχνες και ενδιαφέρουσες περιοδικές εκθέσεις.
Οι στοές
Η Μπολόνια φημίζεται για το εκτεταμένο δίκτυο στοών. Αυτοί οι στεγασμένοι διάδρομοι σχηματίζουν μια δαιδαλώδη δομή σε όλη την πόλη, συνολικού μήκους άνω των 38 χιλιομέτρων, παρέχοντας σκιά το καλοκαίρι και προστασία από τη βροχή τον χειμώνα. Η κατασκευή στοών στην Μπολόνια χρονολογείται από την αρχαία ρωμαϊκή εποχή. Ωστόσο, η πλειονότητα των στοών που βλέπουμε σήμερα χτίστηκε μεταξύ του 11ου και του 13ου αιώνα. Εξυπηρετούσαν πρακτικούς σκοπούς, όπως η επέκταση του ζωτικού χώρου στους επάνω ορόφους των κτιρίων και η προστασία των πεζών από τα στοιχεία της φύσης.
