Όταν το 2006 ο γεμάτος αστέρια Michelin κορυφαίος Alain Ducasse εμπνεύστηκε το LaFourchette, για να διευκολύνει τους ανθρώπους στην αναζήτηση και στις κρατήσεις εστιατορίων, σίγουρα δεν φανταζόταν ότι μερικά χρόνια μετά, η ιδέα αυτή θα είχε κατακλύσει τον κόσμο-και μάλιστα υπό τη δυναμική πλέον «πατρότητα» του TripAdvisor.

Το Πιρούνι, το οποίο ξεκίνησε στα γαλλικά ως La Fourchette και σήμερα έχει εδραιωθεί με την αγγλική του μετάφραση, The Fork, έφτασε σε χώρες όπως Αργεντινή, Βραζιλία, Χιλή, Κολομβία, Μεξικό, Περού, Ουρουγουάη Γαλλία, Ταϊλάνδη, Σιγκαπούρη, Ολλανδία, ενώ στη συνέχεια, με την εξαγορά της Bookatable, η πλατφόρμα ενίσχυσε την παρουσία της στην Ευρώπη και επέκτεινε τις δραστηριότητές της σε 5 νέες χώρες: Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο, Γερμανία, Αυστρία, Φινλανδία και Νορβηγία.

Η συνεργασία μεταξύ του Michelin Guide, του TripAdvisor και του The Fork, αύξησε σημαντικά την προβολή των σεφ και των εστιατορίων και κατ’ επέκταση τον αριθμό των κρατήσεων. Μεταξύ άλλων, η πλατφόρμα παρέχει σε εκατομμύρια λάτρεις της γαστρονομίας να βρουν εύκολα και να κάνουν κράτηση σε επιλεγμένα εστιατόρια της Michelin στο TheFork.
