Even though Ikaria isn’t renowned for its beaches there are still some excellent places to swim and soak up the sun. In summer the Meltemi wind picks up and the seas become choppy, so if you like playing with the waves, even better surfing, and swimming, this is your island. Visitors can choose between the popular ones, which gather a lot of people, and the secluded ones where they can enjoy their swim in complete peace.

Nás: The beach of Nás is located near the village of Armenistis and has thick sand and small pebbles. The water here drops off sharply. It is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, but when there is even a little wind, the waters become extremely dangerous for swimmers, so swimming is prohibited. It is not organized, but you will find taverns in nearby villages.
