Getting There

By Air:
Naxos has a small yet functional airport (JNX) that offers domestic flights from Athens and, during peak season, from Thessaloniki. The airport is conveniently located about 3 kilometers from Naxos Town (Chora).

Athens (ATH) to Naxos (JNX) – The most prevalent route is flying from Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) to Naxos Airport. The flight takes roughly 1 hour and is operated by Aegean Airlines-Olympic Air and Sky Express. Flights are available daily, with increased frequency during the summer months.
Note: Due to the limited capacity of Naxos Airport, flights may sell out quickly, especially during peak season. It is advisable to book your flights well in advance.

By Sea:
Ferries are the most popular and economical way to reach Naxos. Multiple ports in Greece serve as departure points for Naxos-bound ferries, with the most common being Piraeus and Rafina.

Piraeus Port (Athens) to Naxos – Ferries from Piraeus port to Naxos run daily, with multiple departures throughout the day. The journey takes between 5.5 to 6 hours by ferry and 3.5 to 4 hours by high-speed hydrofoil, depending on the company and timetable. Bus service from Athens Airport to Piraeus port takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, while taking the Attiko Metro and ISAP train line is another option.

Rafina Port (Athens) to Naxos – Situated closer to Athens International Airport, Rafina port provides an alternative departure point for Naxos-bound ferries. The trip takes about 4 to 5 hours and is operated by Seajets and Fast Ferries. Note that there is no direct express bus to Rafina from the airport.

Other Cyclades Islands – If you’re exploring the Cyclades, you can also catch a ferry to Naxos from nearby islands like Mykonos, Paros, Santorini, and Syros. Frequent service by ferry and catamaran is available from both Santorini and Mykonos, with limited off-season service from Santorini.

Crete – During the summer months, a weekly ferry connection is available between Heraklion, Crete, and Naxos.

Other Connections – New connections are available from Patmos, Ikaria, Samos, Chios, Mytilini, Limno, and Kavala once a week.
