Greece was named top destination for Europe in 2021 at the World Travel Awards. On the occasion of Greece’s nomination as a top European destination for 2021, the Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias made the following statement:

“Greece managed the pandemic in the best possible way, in terms of medical and travel protocols. It has shown the world that it is the most beautiful but also the safest destination. This international award for 2021 confirms that we are now champions of high quality and travel experience in tourism. Greece is still experiencing a strong tourist season this year as we enter November, and industry professionals need to prepare for a strong 2022.”

The World Travel Awards were established in 1993 to recognise and reward excellence in all key areas of the tourism industry. Today it is a well-established institution that is globally recognised as the ultimate hallmark of the travel industry.

During his visit to Rhodes, the Minister of Tourism referred, among other things, to the objectives set by the Ministry for the coming year.

As the Minister of Tourism stated, “We expect and look forward to an excellent season next year. But it will not come by itself. It will come with strategy, with work and effort and will give back to small, medium and large Greek businesses, to Greek entrepreneurs, to tourism professionals, what they deserve and must get from this very successful course.”
