As in all of Greece, even the most outstanding beaches – as the ones listed here are – can be overcrowded during the busiest months, namely July and August. If you prefer crowd-free holidays we suggest you visit these beaches at the end of May till early/mid June or in September, when you can enjoy them more. Yet even at their busiest, these shores offer relaxation in clean, lovely waters surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Fakistra

Fakistra is a small, secluded cove between high cliffs, with a wild landscape and a sand and pebble beach. It’s only 5 kilometres from Tsagarada, but the final stretch requires careful walking on a steep downhill path, so make sure to wear appropriate footwear. The beach is not organized, so bring your own supplies. The crystal-clear waters and its wild beauty attract many visitors, especially during weekends.

Mylopotamos

Mylopotamos is one of the closest beaches to Tsagarada village and boasts crystal clear deep waters and pebble sand. The only downside is that it quickly fills up with people, so it’s best to visit during the weekdays or early mornings and afternoons to avoid crowds. A large rock in the sea divides the beach in two, but you can easily move from one side to the other since the rock is shallow. Access is easy, you can park your car and walk down to the beach in a few minutes, and there are beach bars selling refreshments. The vertical rock formation above the beach provides shade in the afternoon.

Agioi Saranta

Considered by many as the best beach in Pelion, the beach has azure waters and fine pebbles in front of steep rocks and trees creating an exotic landscape. You will find a sign to Agioi Saranta on the road to Horefto. As you park in front of the beach you will see 2-3 beach bars and on the right side of the beach, a beautiful wood path laid on the sand leads to two more beach bars.

Papa Nero

Papa Nero is easy to reach via a pedestrian path along the beach, so you can park your car in the parking lot opposite the camping site and walk for five minutes to reach the beach. Rental rooms, cafes, and restaurants rent sun loungers and umbrellas, fortunately without occupying the entire beach. If you’d rather go without a sun lounger head to the right end of the beach where you can lay your towel freely, while the rocks there offer some shade at certain times of the day.

Plaka

Next to Agios Ioannis, this beach is ideal for those seeking peaceful swimming and relaxation. Access is possible either via the road to the part of the beach where a hotel operates, where you will be required to pay for parking and entrance, or via a path from the beach of Agios Ioannis. Trees come all the way down to the sea and the waters are transluscent.

Horefto

Located in the east of the Centaurs mountain range, Horefto is a vast and bustling beach where lush vegetation embraces the impressive sandy shoreline, stretching towards the crystalline azure waters. A large part of the beach is organized, with umbrellas and sunbeds for rent, but there is also plenty of space to lay out your own towel. Access is easy by car, only 7.5 km from Zagora, with many tavernas, cafes, and bars open all day long. Chorefto used to be a famous port where the “Zagorian ships” set sail for the big markets of Europe and the East. If you have a boat, visit the enormous sea caves in the area of Palia Mitzela, where the fleet of Xerxes was destroyed in 480 BC.

Potistika

Potistika is a stunning beach located in the southeast of Pelion, near the village of Xinovryssi in the municipality of Argalasti. A golden sandy beach with small pebbles extends for about 1 km, surrounded by huge rocks emerging from the sea. The combination of greenery and clear, glassy waters with emerald hues creates a magical feeling. The beach deepens abruptly, and when it’s windy, the huge waves are truly awesome, but can also be dangerous for children or non-experienced swimmers. To reach Potistika, follow the road from Volos to Argalasti and then to Xinovryssi. A sign will guide you easily to the beach.
