The North Aegean island of Thasos, with its history dating back deep into antiquity, was once a land of abundant gold mines, discovered by the Phoenicians and later exploited by Thasians, Persians, and other ancient civilizations. This rich mining history contributed to the island’s prosperity and influenced its artistic expression and craftsmanship. Today, visitors can explore Thasos’ thriving art scene at venues such as Asimavgi ARTshop, Kappa Art Gallery, Molly’s Art, and Iris Gold, while also uncovering the island’s golden legacy through local museums and ancient sites.
