All flights arrive at Rhodes International Airport (Diagoras), which is 14 kilometres Southwest of the island’s capital. You can rent a car directly at the airport but if not driving yourself, you can travel to Rhodes main town by taxi or by catching the bus (number 23 or 35).

During the summer months, there are daily flights from Eleftherios Venizelos (Athens Airport). The flight takes about 40 minutes. There are also routes to and from Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Mykonos, Santorini, Kos, Karpathos, and Kastellorizo.

The Rhodes International Airport Diagoras is also well connected with regular flights to major European cities such as London, Paris, Dublin, Moscow, Vienna, Frankfurt, Rome, and Brussels. Airlines such as Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, Aeroflot, Condor, EasyJet, and Lufthansa offer both charter and regular flights to Rhodes. TUI airlines also operates many flights from different European countries and offers hotel options on the island. To ensure a spot on a particular plane, it is recommended to book your tickets in advance. The flight time to Rhodes from major European cities can vary, but on average it takes around 2-4 hours.

Ferry

Traveling around the Greek islands by ferry is an authentic and budget-friendly way of getting around, popular among students and older people. A journey from Athens to Rhodes by ferry takes approximately 17 hours, with regular ferries departing from Piraeus in the afternoon and prices starting from 50 EUR for an economy seat or 90 EUR for a cabin bed. The ferry route includes multiple stops on islands such as Kalymnos, Kos, Patmos, and Leros, and longer routes may also stop at Santorini, Crete, and Mykonos.

It is important to check the ferry route and timetable before buying tickets. These ferries typically depart early in the morning or late in the evening, allowing for a day of exploring the city before returning to the hotel.
